The SDW5km is a 5km trail race which takes place alongise our 10km - on beautiful rolling trails around the private Matterley Estate in the South Downs National Park. The race takes place on Friday evening before the South Downs Way 50km and South Downs Way 100 and begins and ends at the start line of those two iconic World Trail Majors races.

Fully marked course. Race held under full UK Athletics Permit granted through the TRA (Permit Number Pending).

Entries for 2027 open at 1900 on Sunday 20th September at 1900.

General Entries: These places are available on a first come, first served basis and are open now. The Entry Fee is £20 (£22 Unaffiliated) and includes all fees.

Minimum Age is 12 on race day.

Start/ Finish Location

Registration, race start and race finish are all at Matterley Bowl. Details of how to get to the estate can be found under the travel and accom tab here.

The course will be marked with our pink tyvek ribbons and pink Centurion arrows. Marhsals will help you at the key junctions.
